"Please, please read a story, please,"
a little person said.
"Or... maybe you could read a poem.
Yes, let's have that, instead."
I like the way the poems sound
..the way the words all bounce around.
We say "mmm" when we say "mound"
and practice all the sounds we found. |
And I see pictures when you read,
they're really bright and clear,
of lakes and sails and kitty cat tails
though it's only words I hear.
The next day when I'm out at play
(and it's ok to talk)
I say the poem right out loud
as I run and walk.
I'm glad so much is all around
to see and hear and do.
I'm glad we have TV and tapes
and books and poems, too.
